Somatic (Bioenergetic) therapy was founded on one key concept: our feelings are reflected in our bodies. And our bodies have the power to regulate our emotions and heal the mind.
Remember the last time you were extremely stressed? Chances are high you experienced it on a physical level. Sensations such as:
These are just some of the examples of how our bodies react to stress.
Research shows that stress, especially prolonged, can have a negative impact on our heart, immune and digestive systems, hormones, and memory, to name but a few. According to a review of scientific studies body psychotherapy approaches may bring about the reduction in people’s psychological distress.
This workshop will give you the easy tools to use when your stress levels get high. Deepening the practice at home will help you build stress resilience in the long run.
You'll understand your own stress response better. You'll pay more attention to early stress signs and will be able to react before stress hits you hard.
You'll try simple exercises to manage stress tension on the go, not just sitting on a meditation pillow in a quiet spa!
You'll gain the tools to build your regular stress resilience practice and exercise at home. We’ll cover the most common body symptoms and experiment with relevant somatic exercises for stress.
And I don’t always look or feel as energized as in that picture. But since I’ve discovered bioenergetic exercises, I can help myself get out of a bad mood, relax my stressed and overwhelmed body, and slow down the overthinking and worrying.
I discovered Bioenergetic Analysis when interviewing a body-oriented therapist for my radio show about sexuality (I’m a trained sexologist). Once I learned more about the approach, I got hooked. I got so hooked that at the age of 40 I decided to go back to school and get trained for 4.5 years to become a body-oriented psychotherapist. I have now completed the pre-clinical phase of my training and am certified as Bioenergetic Counselor SGfBA. To ensure the quality of my work I have regular supervision with an experienced therapist.
On top of that I bring additional, extensive (1.5 years) education and training in group workshop facilitation and life coaching (1 year postgraduate university course).
In my private life I’m an expat in Switzerland. I came to Zurich in 2018 from Warsaw, Poland. My family pack consists of myself, my husband, 8-year-old son and two senior cats. I love the Baltic seaside and the color red as you can see in the picture.

Yes, this workshop is for everyone regardless of their gender. If you’re interested in women-only workshops I sometimes organize them. Message me with your interest.
Yes, you have to be 18 or older to join.
This is not a fitness practice. This is a workshop of exercises invented by body psychotherapist Alexander Lowen. If you have some movement difficulties, I can suggest modifications but the exercises don’t need special fitness skills.
Wear comfortable clothes (you can use the bathroom to change if you wish), wear non slip socks or be ready to take off your socks and practice barefooted on a mat. Bring something to write. You may also want to have a light blanket but that’s not required.
If you have a history of psychotic episodes, schizophrenia, this is not the right setting for you.
If you have depression, anxiety or other mental health concerns and feel stable at the moment (by taking medication and/or therapy), you may come. If in doubt please consult with your therapist or doctor.
The workshop includes exercises that allow you to express emotions, it is possible that intensive feelings will show up, also past traumas. Since this is a group setting I have only limited ability to address any acute states. In that case you may try to just lay down and observe or leave early.
The discoveries gained during the workshop may be a great starting point for therapy or to discuss with your therapist.
Every person is different so you have to use your best judgement. This is a workshop with planned agenda – discussion, theoretical part, and sets of exercises followed by discussions. There is some level of flexibility on my part in shaping the agenda.
Please be aware that there may be loud noises when people express emotions or stomp.
There may be one or two exercises in pairs but if you don’t want to do it this way, I can suggest an alternative.
If in doubt, get in touch.
If you have lower body limitations, you may need someone to assist you to the room as there are a few steps down to access the room. In general I can try to adapt to your particular needs, however I cannot provide individual support to people as this is a group setting, so you might need to come with an assistant. Message me for guidance and I can also try to prepare as best as I can. You can also consider invidual sessions.
